Thank you for your understanding and patienceA Commodity Class refers not only to a specific product but also the packaging of that product, the container those packaged products are in, and even the pallet type used for the shipment.

There might be certain rules (i.e., specific documentation required) for a specific type of Commodity Class. An NMFC no must also be linked to a specific Commodity Class. This code assists in classifying items that can be shipped. The NMFC (National Motor Freight Classification) code is a designation that is used to group commodities.

Typically, Commodity Classes will be configured by the System Administrator, and therefore, you will need the correct permissions to view this menu item.

  • This is a free format data grid where various Commodity Classes can be entered.

  • Enter a Commodity Class code with a Description in the first column.

  • Add Additional Shipper Info

  • Add the NMFC no. This code assists in classifying items that can be shipped. The NMFC (National Motor Freight Classification) code is a designation that is used to group commodities.

  • Add a Contact Number for the Carrier.

  • Select Apply to save the new Commodity Class entered.

  • Commodity Classes are linked to a Shipping TrackID.

  • NonePermissions to see this screen must be set under Settings / Permissions. Select the Menu Access Tab and select the appropriate Group (i.e., Administrators). Under the PC Menu column, locate Transport Management System and ensure Commodity Class Maintenance has a green tick mark.
