Reference - Order Packing & Check Out / Check Out Options / MSN Grocery Pack / MSN Grocery Pack CHK100

The versatile module can be used in a Small Parcel environment as discussed in MSN Grocery Checkout Module (Small Parcels) or it can be used in an LTL or Less than Truckload type of shipment, where there may be one or more entire pallets that you require to ship.

This module would typically be used after the WMS pick slip has been picked but before it has been Invoiced or Dispatch Noted in SYSPRO

Try it!

Let’s look at the LTL (Less than Truckload shipments) checkout.

This type of order is typically a sales order with a small number of stock codes but with larger quantities. They can also be checked out using the MSN Grocery Checkout process in your checkout environment. In this type of checkout, you will typically load multiple cartons of a single stock code on a single pallet.

The stock to be checked will be packed into a single pallet and the software will print out a single Shipping label (TrackID) for each pallet completed.

Confirm the correct status

As this module is only used after the pick slip has been picked it is important to note that the pick slip must have a Status of PICKED to start with the MSN Grocery checkout process.

To verify the status of the pick slip go to Confirm the pick slip status

Info

Note: MSN stands for Master Shipment Number and is a sequential number that WMS automatically generates for every pick slip. This number will print on the physical pick slip document and will be used for the MSN Grocery Checkout process

LTL (Less than Truckload) process

  • On the Main Menu browse to Order Packing & Check Out / Check Out Options / MSN Grocery Pack / MSN Grocery Pack

Image RemovedImage Added
  • The MSN Grocery Pack window will open

  • Start by entering (or scanning) your Pick Slip or MSN number in the MSN/Pick Slip field. You can also use the search icon to locate your Pick Slip

Info

If you enter the Pick Slip TrackID ensure to insert it in the correct format. A Pick Slip TrackID has the same number as the pick slip plus the warehouse code. For more information, refer to Picking TrackIDs Type

  • Select Tab to allow the screen to load

  • Notice in your data grid that the pick slip has fewer stock codes, but the Qty to Pack is much higher than the small parcel order we discussed in MSN Grocery Checkout Module (Small Parcels)

  • As the quantity per stock code is much higher you will send out multiple pallets with cartons of a single stock code on each. Therefore, we will not be using the Print Carton option, where multiple carton labels will be printed

  • Uncheck the Print Carton check box. This is in the top right-hand corner of the screen

Image RemovedImage Added
Info

Note: If the Print Carton check box is unchecked then individual Carton Labels will not print during this process.

Info

Note: The Print Carton check box will remain unchecked for all Pick Slips until you close the MSN Grocery Pack window. If you open the window again it will be checked again. Take note of this if you want to move on to the next Pick Slip and that Pick Slip is for LTL. The check box must then be unchecked again.

  • To checkout pallet loads for an LTL shipment you can open Shipping TrackID for the first pallet (Shipping TrackIDs are required when creating a Waybill/BOL document. For more information, refer to the Shipping Module)

  • Select the Open Shipping TrackID button

  • The Select Printer pop-up will open. Select your printer and print your label(s)

Info

Note: When printing to a physical printer you must ensure that the System Settings is configured correctly

The SHIPPING_PALLETIZATION setting under Settings / Printers on the Ribbon Bar must point to the physical printer. For more information refer to Configure Printers

Info

Note: This option will print a label for the entire pallet, that can be attached to the pallet you are packing.

  • Next, you can select the Standard Packs button at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen

Image RemovedImage Added
  • A pop-up window will appear where you can see how many full boxes the software calculates you must pack

Info

Note: Notice that many cartons are calculated. This is based on the Qty we’ve picked divided by the pack size of each stock code

  • You can change the No of Labels field, depending on how many cartons you want to pack on the current shipment pallet. This is just to tell the software that is the number of cartons packed on a single pallet

Info

Note: If you didn’t uncheck the Print Carton check box earlier, then the total number of labels in the No of Labels field will print. As we’ve unchecked it – the software just records the number of cartons to be packed on a single pallet and it is not printing the labels.

Info

Note: As we’re dealing with larger quantities per stock code the action of printing the pallet label might take longer due to the software recording the number of cartons to be packed on a single pallet, even though the actual carton labels are not printing.

  • Selecting the Print link on the Pack Size Boxing data grid to update the number of boxes (based on the value entered in No. of Labels field) to be packed onto the shipping pallet for that stock code

  • The box number for each stock code will be updated and displayed in the Box Range column

Info

Note: The No. of Labels column data can be edited as well. Click in the column and change the number to how many labels you want to be printed.

  • If you close the Pack Size Boxing screen, the MSN Grocery Pack screen will update, and the number of labels printed will show in the Completed Cartons list on the left-hand side of the screen

  • You can also view the stock already packed when selecting the Stock Already Packed Tab

  • Let us move on to the next pallet by creating a second shipping TrackID

  • Select the Open Shipping Track ID button again

  • A pop-up will appear, asking you whether you want to continue packing cartons onto the current pallet or if you want to create a second TrackID (pallet)

Image RemovedImage Added
  • Select Yes, to create a second shipping TrackID (if you select No you will be adding more cartons to the existing pallet)

  • Again, the shipping TrackID label will print to be attached to the next empty pallet

Info

Note: The Shipping TrackID is always prefixed with an “S”, which you can also see at the top of the screen, as well as on the pallet label that prints. This is to distinguish Shipping Pallets from an ordinary TrackID in the system. The Shipping TrackID will always increment with one.

Image RemovedImage Added
  • Select the Standard Packs button at the bottom right-hand corner again to start packing your second pallet

  • The quantities for the stock codes have now been updated in the Pack Size Boxing screen. In the No. of Labels field, enter the No. of Boxes for each of the stock codes that you want to pack onto this second pallet and click on the Print link to generate the cartons in the system. If there are more Standard Packs left to pack, then open a new Shipping TrackID and follow the above steps until all standard packs are packed onto Shipping TrackID

Info

Note: On the Standard Packs screen you have the option to search for a specific stock code. This is useful when there are many lines of data in the data grid.

  • Once all pallets are packed a pop-up will appear asking you whether you want to Dispatch Note or Invoice the Sales Order in SYSPRO

Info

Note: You have the option to perform these transactions later.

  • If you don’t want to Dispatch Note or Invoice the Sales Order. Select Close

  • If you do want to Dispatch Note or Invoice, select one of the buttons

  • By selecting Invoice, SYSPRO will be updated, and a pop-up will appear, displaying the Invoice Number and the Result status of Invoiced

  • Close the pop-up

  • The system will now ask whether you want to print a packing list. This will also be your indication that the Grocery packing list is now complete

  • The Packing List contains a summary of the entire MSN, including the quantities of each carton

Packing and labeling loose quantities

After packing all the Standard packs, some of the lines may still have some loose quantities left to pack. Although this may not be a typical LTL scenario, it is not an unusual one.

To start pack the remaining loose quantities into another box or carton go to Packing and labeling loose quantities

Posting the transaction

Once all stock has been packed, and the correct Cartons are selected you can post the transaction. Go to Posting the transaction

Reprinting Carton Labels or Packing Lists

You can reprint any of the Carton Labels or Packing lists. Go to Reprinting Carton Labels or Packing Lists
