FUNCTIONALITY OVERVIEW

Sites running Model G (tote driven distribution center) and F (Distribution center with area based picking), place items into Totes as they are picked. The totes are assigned a unique Tote Label. The tote number is printed on a bar code label which is attached to the tote.

Carrier and Trolley labels are a similar concept whereby a Track ID is created so that the goods can be scanned on to the trolley/forklift/carrier when in transit (and scanned off at the other end). This gives us the ability to track the stock even when it is in transit.

When new labels or reprints are required, these labels (and the pallet within the DATASCOPE WMS database) is created from this application.

STANDARD PROCESS

  • To print a single label, select the radio button for single (this will disable to “To” bin as you will be entering or selecting only one Tote number)

  • To print a range e.g. T10 – T20, select the Range radio Button. This will enable the “To” field. If you print a range, then the Description will be created to be the same as the Tote number.

  • In the “From” field Enter the Tote ID (if you wish to reprint an existing tote, you can use the lookup to select an existing tote)

  • You can enter a description, or click the radio button to make the description the same as the tote number. When using Range the system creates the descriptions the same as tote number.

  • Select bin (click the bin lookup, select the bin from the list)

  • When creating TOTES, the bin that should be selected is the PICK## bin for the warehouse.&edsp;&edsp;

  • More than 1 copy can be printed (e.g. 2 – 1 for each side of tote)

  • Select the “TOTE” format

  • Click Create Label

  • All totes/carrier trolleys will be a unique number prefixed with a T, to make it more easily identified and differentiated from a normal pallet or picking pallet.

SPECIAL FEATURES

  • If the labels have been printed before, i.e. the tote number already exists in the database, a pop up will appear, to allow the reprint of existing totes, or the un ticking of totes that do not need to be reprinted.

  • Totes/carriers are created in ONHOLD status. The Pick Face replenishment application can work with this status, but the user will not be able to use track ID consolidate or put-away consolidation when moving stock onto or off of this tote/trolley pallet.
