Maintain Pickfaces [WHS020]
The Maintain Pickfaces screen is used to configure Pick face bin locations. It will link stock codes to pick face bin locations and set up the trigger levels for each record. Trigger levels are typically the rules configured to generate the replenishment reports for users to be notified when pick faces must be filled up.
Locate the bin location from the Lookup Bin window
Note: the screen only accepts the entry of pickface bin locations already configured into the bin field. If you try to search for a bin location that is not created, you will get an error message. For more information, see Create Bin [WHS010] or Create Multiple Bins
When selecting a bin location, you can also see the Bin Type and the Warehouse in which the bin is located.
You can just open your chosen pickface bin.
To add stock codes to the specific bin you selected, you must go to the Maintain Pickface window.
Here you can add stock codes that live within that specific pick face bin.
Search for the stock code by either typing it in or selecting the lookup icon. This will typically be the stock code(s) that you want to link to this pick face location.
The Description field will load automatically from SYSPRO.
You can then add the Minimum Stock Quantity and the Maximum Stock Quantity. These two quantities are the minimum and maximum quantities of the stock code you would typically want to hold in this specific pick face
Capture the Picking Instructions field. This is a short free format message, which can be displayed on the scanner picking screen to give instructions to the Replenishment user. A typical message would be ‘Pack carefully’ or ‘Flammable’
The Reorder Quantity is the most important field on this screen. The system uses this to identify when a replenishment order should be triggered. Depending on this rule, the system will trigger a replenishment order when the stock in the pick face bin drops below this level
The Replenishment Quantity field is only used for certain Replenishment rules and is only used when you set your Replenishment options
In the Replenishment Options drop-down, you have 5 options to choose from. The selected option determines the replenishment rule used on this stock code in this pick face. You can set different rules on different stock codes and pick face locations. The 5 options are:
o  1 – Replenish Qty – this rule will wait until the stock on hand for this stock code drops below reorder quantity, and then the software will generate a replenishment order of exactly one standard replenishment quantity as set in the Replenishment Quantity field
o  2 – Fill to Max (incl. Demand) - this rule will combine the bins max level plus sales order and job demand and compare this with the reorder level. If the net requirement drops the stock in the bin below the reorders level, the replenishment system will trigger a replenishment to cover the max plus demand. (The demand is calculated as any open Sales order line that is overdue and lines with a ship date before the WMS system setting "DAYS AHEAD" under the replenishment tab.)
o  3 – By Requirement to Reorder - This rule works the same as rule 2 but only fill the bin to cover demand and up to the Reorder level - not to Max as is the case with rule 2
o  4 – By Requirement to Minimum - This rule is the same as 2 and 3 above but only fills the bin to demand plus Minimum
o  5 – Fill to Max (excl. Demand) - this rule triggers a replenishment when the stock on hand in the bin drops below the reorder quantity and then fills the bin back to the set Max level
In the Source Warehouse, you will select the warehouse from which the Replenishment goods must come
The Unit Picking Threshold field is only used with certain system settings and will not be discussed here. (The setting only applies if the warehouse setting has been configured to add a threshold at the pick face bin level for unit picking against that bin)
Select Apply at the bottom of the Maintain Screen. This will save the record onto that specific bin location and allow the system to generate replenishments against that pick face bin location
On the right-hand side of the Maintain Screen, you can print labels directly from the screen. You can only print one bin’s label or a range of bins. Once all your pick faces are correctly configured, you will need to print the pick face labels for all physical bin locations and apply those labels to the warehouse racks where the pick face bins are located

TECHNICAL
In order to print Bin labels from this screen, you must ensure that the correct System Setting is configured and that the correct .rpt label is used. From the Ribbon Bar, browse to Settings / System Settings and locate the PICKFACE System name. Search for the PICKFACE_BIN_LABEL Setting Name and ensure the Setting Value is = DATASCOPE_PICKFACE_4X2.5.rpt
Within DATASCOPE PREMIUM there are typically two options for picking. 1) Default Bin (where all the stock gets moved into when picking the stock) 2) Manual Bin (a Bin will be created per Pick Slip for the picked stock to go into) The following settings apply for each:
Default Bin - On the Ribbon Bar browse to Settings / System Settings / DISPATCH / DEFAULT_BIN and add the default Bin name in the SettingValue field
Manual Bin - On the Ribbon Bar browse to Setting / System Settings / GENERAL / PICK_BIN_EQUAL_TO_PICKING_SLIP_NUMBER and update the SettingValue to Y(es). For this option the pick slip must already be assigned to an Operator, otherwise the Bin will not exist. This Bin, however, needs to exist so that Picking TrackID can be created.
