Bin Zone Management [WHS004]
Zones are typically used to direct the storage of products. Zones can exist within an Area or span across multiple Areas. Â For instance, if you require allergen products to be stored in a specific area of a warehouse you would allocate this as a Zone and link the required stock codes to that Zone.
Zones and Areas must not be confused, as the two run independently of each other. The Receiving and Put Away process make use of Zoning to group and drive products into logical Zones. For instance all product being de stuffed from a container could be packed onto pallets by zone code so that each pallet can then move to a single zone in the warehouse for put away.Â
The two pre-configured default Zones created are:
·       PICK Zone
·       RECV Zone
Note: Zones are linked to Bins and are required for your Bin Import. For more information on creating Bins and Bin locations visit - Create Single Bins
As per your warehouse blueprint, each Zone must be labeled with a Zone code and description.
To create your first additional Zone, click on the grey line at the bottom of the data grid.
You can move between the fields by using your TAB key.
Fill in the required fields below:
Zone - This is the code that will define for the zone. There will be two default zones already created. Example:Â Â Â Â Zone code = PICK
Description - This is the description of the Zone code. A typical description would be "Dry Food Goods" or "Allergen Products". Example:Â Â Â Â Description = A Zone
Sequence - This refers to the sequence of the put away logic when offloading a newly received pallet with multiple SKUs on it. For example, we may want the operator to move to the pick face area first (this being a zone in the setup) and off load product. Once this has been completed the operator would move to the next zone. Another example would be to drive the operator to a heavy products zone (all at floor level) first and then move on to other zones for lighter goods.
Once you created all your Zones you can select Apply at the bottom of the Window. This will save your Zones.
If you close the Zone Window and open it again you will notice that your Zones have been created.
