Upgrade to a newer version or port

System Manager

DATASCOPE PREMIUM WMS offers a variety of different ports from which to choose. Each port has the trade-off of the newest features versus stability.

We typically have four significant releases yearly, but various new ports are released regularly. Release notes are available on the DSP portal.

What is a Version?

A Version refers to a major release of the software. More considerable enhancements or new functionality are typically released within a new version.

Versions are released four times a year.

What is a Port?

A Port refers to a minor version of the software. Typically, smaller bugs are fixed with a new Port and can be released weekly.

DATASCOPE PREMIUM WMS doesn’t have a built-in updating system. You must update the software by following the upgrade steps described in the sections below.

Note: A detailed process is in place to assist customers when planning a major software version upgrade (including port upgrade). Refer to Process for DATASCOPE Technical Assistance during Port upgrades.pdf available on the DSP secure portal or contact our FreshDesk Helpdesk.

Download a Port

  • Open System Manager on the server where DATASCOPE WMS is installed.

  • Select the 2. Download a Port/Upgrade option.

  • Click Next.

  • From the Download Filter drop-down menu, select the Port/Upgrade option.

  • From the Version drop-down, select the latest version. (we advise the newest version less one)

  • From the Download drop-down, select the required Port (always select the latest Port)

  • Select Next.

  • Your Port will be downloaded successfully.

  • Select Next

  • The downloaded version/port .wmsu file will be downloaded and visible under C:/ Program Files (x86) / DATASCOPE / DATASCOPE WMS System Manager / Downloads

Once you have a version and Port downloaded, you can continue to Apply for an Upgrade.

Apply an Upgrade

Once you download a version/port, you can open the Apply an Upgrade option under System Manager.

  • As you selected Next on the last Download a Port/Upgrade page, you should stand on the following screen.

  • Select 3. Apply an Upgrade

  • Select Next

  • The System Manager will perform some Validation checks. If all checks have a green check mark, you can continue by selecting Next.

  • Select the downloaded version and port again. This screen also only shows the latest three ports available.

  • Select Next

  • All the required files will be extracted. Once completed, select Next.

  • A WARNING message will appear stating that all Operators must be logged out as the system will be shut down.

  • The System Manager will go through another validation process. All the steps must have a green tick mark to continue.

  • If one of the steps fails, it will be displayed in red. Double-click on the name, and a pop-up will appear explaining what the error is exactly.

  • Select Next.

  • You will land on the System Manager home page. You can now close it.

Opening the PC client after an upgrade

Once the upgrade is complete and no validation steps fail, the user can open the PC Client.

  • Open DATASCOPE WMS

  • The standard login screen will not appear, but the PC client will verify all application requirements first.

  • If an upgrade was done, the update available screen will appear.

  • This step cannot be skipped; otherwise, the PC on the floor will not be upgraded, and there will be a difference in versions between the backend on the server and the PC clients on the warehouse floor.

  • Ensure you select OK.

  • This will install the new version on the PC client.

  • If you have Microsoft Defender SmartScreen installed, you might also see the following screen.

  • Select More Info and Run anyway.

  • Once completed, you will see the DATASCOPE WMS Login screen.

  • Log in with your username and password.
