Normal Pick Slip Release process

Order Release / Pick Slip Release / Sales Order Release [PIK001] OR Sales Order Wave Release [PIK002]

Once validation is complete, the normal Pick Slip Release process will follow. During this process, there is no integration into the TMS Module.

Orders can be shipped in different ways:

  • Pick slip is typically a single order.

  • MSN grouping of orders (pick slips)

  • Waybill is a grouping of multiple MSNs.

Note: If you try to Release a pick slip (under Order Release / Pick Slip Release / Sales Order Release (single Pick Slip) or Pick Slip Release / Sales Order Wave Release (group of Pick slips)) of an order whose address wasn’t validated successfully (it will have an Address Validation of ERROR – Invalid Address), you will get an error message and will not be able to release the pick slip until the address are fixed in SYSPRO first and the Address Validation confirmed again, before you can continue.

Let’s review how to group multiple Pick slips under one MSN Number and the process it will follow within the TMS Module.

Group multiple Pick slips under one MSN Number

Sometimes, a customer may have multiple pick slips (or orders) on the same day, and the preferred approach is to consolidate these orders into a single shipment. To achieve this, we need to group the pick slips under a single MSN Number. You can use the Sales Order Wave Release screen for this purpose. This way all pick slips for the same customer will be shipped together.

  • On the Main Menu, browse to Order Release / Pick Slip Release / Sales Order Wave Release

  • Various filters can be set depending on how you want to release the Sales Orders

  • For this example, you only search for the Small Parcel Sales Orders you want to group together.

  • You can follow the same process as normal to Reserve the stock.

o   Select the Reserve Stock link, visible on the stock code line in the data grid.

o   The TrackID selection screen will open.

o   Select the Track ID, by checking the check box under the Reserve column from where you want to reserve the stock.

o   Check the Reserve checkbox.

o   It will automatically Reserve the Qty as you have indicated on the SYSPRO Sales Order.

o   Select the Reserve button at the bottom right-hand corner.

  • To group the pick slips together you must drag a column heading, for example, MasterCustomer, to the Drag a column header here to group by that column section.

  • Right-click on that line and select Release Orders in Group (MSN Per Order).

  • A pop-up will appear asking you to confirm your action. Select Yes.

  • You will still create two, or how many orders you have grouped, pick slips, but they will be grouped under one MSN Number.

  • The Pick Slips will print.

  • Select End Reservation in the bottom right corner.

  • Next, you must go through the process to pick the pick slips (using the HTML Sales Pick to Pick slip module). There’s no TMS integration during this process.

Pickers will now be able to pick these separately, following the normal picking process, but they will be checked out as a unit, as they have one MSN number.

Once a Sales Order has been released and a pick slip was printed you will notice two (or more) lines within the TMS Order Query screen.

The green line is the initial primary record into the TMS system and was used to do the initial Rate Shop. Once the order has been released a duplicate line is created for every pick slip that is released, a blue line, which will be used to link all the pick slips to the primary record.

If you right-click on the blue line you can also Change the Type, from a Small Parcel to an LTL or the carrier can be updated. All pick slips linked to the primary record (green line) will be updated automatically.

It is possible to have more than one pick slip released for the same TMS Reference. If the Sales Order was classified, according to the TMS Set Type Plugin, as an LTL, but you cannot release all the pick slips on the same day, you can update the type to a small parcel and ship all pick slips on the same day.
