Additional System Settings

System Settings

Replenishment, the process of restocking inventory, is a crucial aspect of warehouse management. It involves moving products from bulk storage or reserve areas to pick locations or other areas where the products are needed to fulfil orders. The goal of replenishment is to ensure that there is always enough stock on hand to meet demand while minimizing excess inventory and maximizing space utilization within the warehouse. Effective replenishment processes, which you play a vital role in, are critical for maintaining accurate inventory levels, optimizing order fulfilment, and ensuring timely customer delivery.

DATASCOPE WMS has two replenishment modules to assist warehouses with the replenishment process.

The following Warehouse and System Settings can influence how this module works. This is a list of settings we have not touched on throughout this user guide.

Try it!

Hide the supplying TrackID from the mobile screen during picking.

The supplying TrackID on the Replenishment Picking mobile screen can be hidden from the picker during the picking process.

From the Ribbon Bar, browse Settings / Warehouse Settings and select the applicable replenishment source warehouse from where the stock will be picked. Locate the REPLENISHMENT system name and update the setting value DISPLAY_SUGGESTED_TRACKID. By default, this is set to Y(es), but it can be switched to N(o) to hide the TrackID.

Destination Bin

Most warehouses work with dedicated stock codes per pickface bin, so the FORCE_PICKFACE_BIN setting defaults to Y(es). However, you can switch off this setting if the destination pickface bin is not important in your warehouse process.

From the Ribbon Bar, browse Settings / Warehouse Settings and select the applicable warehouse. Locate the REPLENISHMENT system name and update the setting value FORCE_PICKFACE_BIN. By default, this is set to Y(es), but it can be switched to N(o) so as not to force a specific stock code into a specific pickface bin.

Match the picked Lot with the reserved Lot.

When picking a Lot traceable stock code off an Alternative TrackID to a reserved TrackID, the FORCE_SAME_LOT_ALTERNATE_TRACKID will ensure that the picked Lot stock code matches the reserved Lot stock code. This setting defaults to N(o), but it can be updated not to match the picked Lot stock code to the reserved Lot stock code.

From the Ribbon Bar, browse Settings / Warehouse Settings and select the applicable replenishment source warehouse from which the stock will be picked. Locate the REPLENISHMENT system name and update the setting value FORCE_SAME_LOT_ALTERNATE_TRACKID. By default, this is set to N(o), but it can be switched to Y(es).

Limits the visits to a bin from the source warehouse.

The MAX_SOURCE_BIN_VISITS_PER_PICKSLIP setting can limit the number of bin visits from the source warehouse per pick slip. This allows the picker to complete his pick slips in a day realistically. The default setting is -1, which does not limit the bin limits.

From the Ribbon Bar, browse Settings / Warehouse Settings and select the applicable warehouse where the bin is located. Locate the REPLENISHMENT system name and update the setting value MAX_SOURCE_BIN_VISITS_PER_PICKSLIP. This is set to -1 by default, but it can be changed.

Picking settings

The following settings are the same as normal picking settings and allow a replenishment picker to over or under pick across the board, as well as allow percentage picking limits for both.

Determine what replenishments to create.

The built-in pickface monitor can use different figures to calculate the replenishment demand.

  • SYSPRO – When set, the pickface monitor will use the sum of the Backorder QTY on all active SYSPRO Sales Orders for the warehouse as the demand.

  • WMS_PICK – When set, the pickface monitor will use current open DATASCOPE PREMIUM WMS pick slips as the demand required to be available in the pickface.

  • WMS_PICK_ALLOCATION—When set, the demand figures will include soft-allocated reservations on Sales Orders that have not been released into pick slips.

From the Ribbon Bar, browse Settings / Warehouse Settings and select the applicable warehouse. Locate the REPLENISHMENT system name and update the setting value RELENISHMENT_BASED_ON_REQUIREMENTS_FROM. The default setting is SYSPRO.

Suppress pop-up message when picking Alternates.

Two other noteworthy settings are SUPPRESS_ALTERNATE_LOT and ALTERNATE_TRACKID_MESSAGE under the Warehouse setting REPLENISHMENT. These are set to N(o) by default, but if your warehouse frequently picks either an Alternate Lot or an Alternative TrackID from the reserved Lot and TrackID, you can change this to Y(es). The pop-up stating that the picker is picking from Alternates will be suppressed.

When updating System Settings, remember to select Apply to save any changes. Other Replenishment settings will be defaulted correctly when purchasing the software and do not require changes.
