FUNCTIONALITY OVERVIEW
This screen has been developed to allow a super user or system administrator a "back door" route to adjust a Tracking ID's type. Changing a Tracking ID type is not often done and should be done with caution as it changes the behavior of the software when dealing with Tracking ID's.
There are three Tracking ID types available in the software. These are:
Normal Tracking ID
- A Tracking ID type of Normal would be assigned to any normal Tracking Id that will automatically become inactive once the last stock item has been removed or if the pallet was written off in a stock take or cycle count.
Picking
Tracking ID - This type is used for any Tracking ID that is used during the picking process. For instance when a user picks a picking slip the picked stock is moved from the bin location to a new Tracking ID that is linked to the picking slip. Often this Tracking ID is automatically created when the picking slips is first assigned. These Tracking IDs are only used for that picking slip and become In activated once the order is shipped and invoiced.
Pick Face
Tracking ID - These are the Tracking Id's linked to any pick face bin. When you create a pick face bin you generally will select to create a linked Tracking ID which is a Tracking ID named the same as the bin location. These Tracking ID's can never become inactive. Even if all the product within the bin (or on the linked Tracking ID) has been picked the Tracking ID will still remain active so that more inventory can be scanned on this Tracking ID in the future.
Shipping Tracking Id - These Tracking IDs are only created in the shipping module for pallets and cartons of inventory that are being shipped to a customer or to another branch (SCT). Shipping labels are very different to the other Tracking ID types as there is no stock for these pallets/ boxes in SYSPRO - they have already been shipped.
An example of where this application would be used is the following. Lets say you wanted to create a rack of bulk bin locations but these bins have shelves in them and you will not be moving existing Tracking IDs into these bins but you will be offloading Tracking ID's onto the shelves. Due to the construct of DATASCOPE WMS every bin must have a Tracking ID. Either i am scanning one into the bin or i am scanning product off one tracking ID and onto another. So to move stock into these shelves, i would need to create a Tracking ID for each bin and i would need to change its status to a Pick Face type so that the tracking Id never becomes inactive.
Another example for this application is when changing bin location types from a pick face to a bulk bin location or vise versa
