Blackbox Monitoring Tool
The DATASCOPE WMS BlackBox monitor is a simple environment monitoring application for new and existing sites.
This monitor can identify any possible problems in performance within an environment.
The monitor generates a daily PDF report with some graphical representations of several metrics, these include:
SQL Server CPU/Memory
SYSPRO CPU/Memory
WMS CPU/Memory
Network Latency
SYSPRO E.Net Performance
You should have downloaded and installed the monitoring tool from System Manager.

Prerequisites
Before the configuration can be done the following information should be obtained from the IT Manager/PM of the site:
SQL Server IP/Name
SYSPRO Server IP/Name
Wi-Fi IP/Name (Ideally the IP address of a Mobile scanner or device on the Wi-Fi Network)
SQL Server Login Details (Username and Password, NOTE: The Password needs to be encrypted using the DATASCOPE Encryption application)
SYSPRO User Login Details (This should be an Operator created specifically for the BlackBox and DOES NOT need any Functional Area permissions)
SYSPRO Database Name
Runtime License (If the site is using Standard E.Net Licensing or Runtime E.Net Licensing)
Once this information has been obtained the Configuration of the service can be done, by following these steps:
Configure the service
Navigate to the installation path, below is the default path the service files are installed to.
Open the Configuration File located under Program Files / DATASCOPE / DATASCOPE WMS Blackbox
Fill in the information obtained above in the locations indicated in the following image.
Save and close the file. If you get a permission warning, simply save the file to the Desktop and then copy it back into the directory afterwards.
Open the Windows Services, by navigating to Control Panel -> System and Security-> Administrative Tools -> Services as shown below:
Locate the DATASCOPE WMS Blackbox service, as shown below and right click, Properties.
From the Properties, select the Log On tab at the top and set the service to Log on as to This Account, then enter a user account that has administrative access to the SQL and SYSPRO Server. This is required to allow the service to remotely query the SQL and SYSPRO Servers CPU and Memory usage statistics.
This completes the configuration process, and the service can be started, as shown below. Please refer to the next section on CHECKING THE SYSTEM to ensure all it is working correctly.
Once the Installation and Configuration sections are complete the following should be performed to ensure all the configuration is correct and working as it should.
Once the Service is started, it will automatically create a new section in the Event Logs within windows, these can be accessed by navigating to Control Panel -> System and Security-> Administrative Tools -> Services, as shown below.
The service will create its own log called WMS Blackbox Service, as shown below.
Any problems with the Service/Configuration will be logged here, the following are some common error messages and the cause.
Error indicating there was a problem with the metric GetCPUUsage and the problem is the Server IP/Name that was entered in the config file was not found. Sometimes the Name does not work and switching to the IP address can help.
Error indicating the Logon details for SYSPRO were incorrect, in this case the Operator name was not found, double-check the configuration file as well as SYSPRO to ensure the details match correctly.
Once all problems are resolved, confirmed by no errors on the Event Logs, just informational logs the system is up and running. PLEASE NOTE THE SERVICE TAKES SOME TIME TO CHECK ALL METRICS, SO THE BEST IS TO START IT UP AND WAIT FOR 2 MINUTES AND CHECK THE EVENT LOG.
Once the system is running, it will gather information and store this in the File subdirectory of the Services.
