Work In Progress / WIP Release / Job Labeling [WIP031]

This Job Labeling module is used to pre-print box or carton labels before the Parent part (stock code) is received. The labels are printed in advance and accompany the Job Cards to the production floor. They are used to mark the boxes or cartons of finished products when they come off the production line.

Note: No mobile device screen is available for this module because the labels are usually printed as part of the job card paperwork, which is required to start production.

Job Labeling (PC-screen)

  • From the Main Menu, browse to Work In Progress / WIP Release / Job Labeling.

  • The Job Labeling screen will open.

  • Enter a confirmed or unconfirmed SYSPRO job numbers in the Job Number field or use the lookup icon to search for a job number.

  • Tabbing of the Job Number field, after entering or selecting a job number, the Parent Stock Code, Job Description, and Qty to Make will automatically appear.

  • Underneath Qty to Make twelve user defined fields is visible. These fields can be used to enter any free formatted data that will also print on the job label. For example, the user can manually enter the customer’s name for the job or any special instructions to the production team.

  • These user defined fields must first be labeled under System Settings.

  • On the Ribbon Bar, browse to Settings / System Settings and locate the JOB LABELING setting name. You will notice the twelve SAMPLE_NOTATIONTEXT fields.

  • The default SettingValue fields are empty, you can enter the required field label in each field, for example, Customer Name.

  • Select Apply to save your changes.

  • The newly added field can now be used to add the Customer Name for the selected Job Number.

  • The remaining fields work the same. It is advised to add all required fields under System Settings before opening the Job Labeling module.

 Note: If additional field labels are added after the Job Labeling screen is opened, you will have to close and open the screen first to see the additional fields added.

  • The No. of Labels are used to specify how many of the same label are required to be printed.

 Note: This Job Label is not a uniquely numbered TrackID label, therefore the number of labels you generate is not important.

  • The Qty on Each will default to the Pallet quantity in SYSPRO for the parent stock code in the warehouse of that job.

  • To view this Pallet quantity in SYSPRO.

o Open SYSPRO.

o Browse to Inventory / Inventory Query

o   Enter the parent stock code, i.e., B100 to the Stock Code field and select the lookup icon.

o   Open Warehouses for the parent stock code and select the Change icon for the FG (Finished Goods) warehouse.

o   The Pallet quantity is visible here.

  • If you do not want the Qty on Each field to updated to the SYSPRO Pallet quantity a System Setting can be updated.

  • On the Ribbon Bar, browse Settings / System Settings. Locate the JOB_LABELLING setting name and change the DEFAULT_PALLET_QTY to N(o). This will leave the Qty on Each field blank.

  • Select Apply to save the change.

  • Select Print to print the label(s).

  • A printer pop-up will appear. Select the applicable printer.

Note: When printing to a physical printer you must ensure that the System Settings is configured correctly and that the physical label printer setting is printing to a 4X2.5-inch label. The JOBLABELING setting under Settings / Printers on the Ribbon Bar must point to the physical printer. For more information refer to Configure Printers

Setting up Job Labeling templates

Note: The default RPT template contains only the first three free formatted text fields at the bottom of the label.

  • The .RPT template is configured under the System Settings / JOB_LABELLING / JOB_LABELLING_TEMPLATE.

  • To add more free formatted fields to the label, the RPT template must be updated in Crystal Reports.

  • Open the .RPT template in Crystal Reports.

Note: All .RPT templates are stored on your DATASCOPE PREMIUM WMS server under the following folder. C:/ Program Files (x86) / DATASCOPE / DATASCOPE WMS WebAPI / RPT

  • The free format fields are called Notation1 – Notation12 within the Crystal Report table.

  • The first three fields are already visible on the template. You can drag more notation fields on the template as required.
