This module allows a user to replace a component(s) on all Jobs waiting to be released to the factory floor due to a component for these Jobs that is no longer available.
Occasionally, in a manufacturing business, it can happen that a large number of Jobs cannot be released to the factory due to a key raw material that is no longer available. By using this screen, these unavailable components can then be replaced by an alternative component. This module will run through all SYSPRO Jobs not released to a pick slip and replace the unavailable component with a selected alternative component.
This ability to replace unavailable components with an alternative component can also be done on the Job Release module but only on a line-by-line level, whereby this module can do it for all Jobs waiting to be released to the factory.
This update is then completed in SYSPRO on each Job Material Allocation List.
Enter the stock code of the unavailable raw material that must be replaced in the Current Stock Code field.
The Description will load automatically. Notice that the description will indicate whether this is a Lot Traceable item by adding the word Lot Traceable after the description name.
Enter the stock code (of the alternative raw material) that must replace the Current Stock Code in the Replace Stock Code field.
Select the Query Jobs button. This will query all SYSPRO Jobs using the applicable raw material, where the quantity has not been issued and the quantity required is greater than zero.
The data grid will populate.
All tick boxes under the Process column will be ticked by default. Deselect the tick box under the Process column if you don’t want the unavailable raw material be replaced for that specific Job.
If you want to update all Jobs simultaneously, you can select the Select All button, in the top right-hand corner.
Select Start Processing at the bottom of the screen. The line with the original stock code will be updated to 0 quantity required, and a new line will be written for the new stock code to the Job with the same quantity as the original stock code.

SPECIAL FEATURES
The individual Jobs affected by the no longer available component can be selected by only selecting those applicable lines' Process tick box. Only Jobs that have been checked will have the stock code replaced when selecting the Start Processing button.
If you know the date by when the unavailable product will be available again, you can sort the data grid by JobStartDate and only select the applicable jobs prior to that date.
TECHNICAL
To indicate whether the unavailable raw material (stock code) can be replaced with ONLY alternative raw material (stock code) or with any other material (stock code) a System Setting must be configured. From the Ribbon bar, browse to Settings / System Settings and locate the PICKING_JOB_ALLOCATION System Setting. Locate the REPLACE_STOCK_OPTIONS SettingName and ensure the SettingValue is = Alternative. If this is set to All then any other material (stock code) can be used as the replacement material.
