FUNCTIONALITY OVERVIEW
This module has been developed for manufacturing companies that pick products for jobs that need to be weighed off. Companies that are involved in food or chemical manufacture are typical candidates for this module. Here a normal WIP jobs is raised in SYSPRO and a picking slip is then released. Normally for these jobs have a long list of components and these components are picking from more than one warehouse. For instance in a food company a single job must have components from a dry goods warehouse, a cold storage warehouse and an oils store warehouse. DATASCOPE WMS will split this picking slip into 3 linked slips, one for each warehouse.
In side each warehouse there would be a number of weigh stations where product is picked on a scale. This module is opened on a PC linked to the scale and product is weighed off. The integration between DATASCOPE WMS and the weigh scale will manage the actual amount that is picked and issued to the job (pick slip). A setting allows for two scales to be integrated to each PC. A large scale for full bags and a small scale for the remaining picks or for concentrated ingredients. When picking full bags, each bag is placed on the scale and issued to the job. the screen shows each issue on a progress bar until the final required quantity is issued.
In an advanced install the DATASCOPE WMS software can be configured to automatically split each components requirement across a full bags/cartons warehouse and a pick face warehouse. Here the Job release screen has advanced functionality to automatically calculate the number of full bags or cartons to be picked from the bulk warehouse and these requirements are released on a separate picking slip for the bulk warehouse. All the remaining requirements that are below a full pack size are then allocated to the pick face warehouse and a second picking slip is generated. All the required updated to the SYSPRO job material allocations is automatically processed in the background. Please ask DATASCOPE for a video on this setup as it is a little complex to initially setup the environment.
