System Settings

When the Pick to TrackID picking strategy is used within a warehouse, there are two labeling variations the user can choose from.

  • Print the Picking TrackID before picking

  • Print the Picking TrackID during picking

We do recommend that you set up both .rpt template.

Configure the .rpt templates for both variations.

To ensure the correct Picking TrackIDs printout, you must first configure the .rpt templates for both variations.

  • Please ensure the correct .rpt templates (<name>.rpt) are configured. To print the Picking TrackID, click on Settings / System Settings on the Ribbon Bar. Locate the PICKINGPALLET System Name, update the setting BARRELLABEL with the applicable .rpt template.

  • Please ensure the correct .rpt templates (<name>.rpt) are configured. To print the Picking TrackID, click on Settings / Warehouse Settings on the Ribbon Bar. Select the applicable warehouse and locate the SALESORDER_PICKING System Name, update the setting PICKING_TRACKID_TEMPLATE with the applicable .rpt template.

Print the Picking TrackID before picking commence

This allows the Operator to print a wheel of labels prior to picking and pre-label the boxes he will be picking into. This method also allows the user to capture the carton name and size in order to enter the dims and mass.

A system setting must be updated prior to printing these Picking TrackIDs. This will activate the Print tab on the Sales Pick to TrackID HTML5 screen.

From the Ribbon Bar, browse to Settings / Warehouse Settings. Select the applicable warehouse and locate the SALESORDER_PICKING System Name. Update the setting DISPLAY_TRACKID_CREATION_TAB to Y(es)

Printing these Picking TrackIDs prior to picking must be done from the Sales Pick to TrackID HTML5 screen and the pick slips must be assigned to the picker before printing.

  • Open the Sales Pick to TrackID HTML5 screen.

  • Assign the pickslip to the operator (for more information refer to Assigning TrackID/Box Pick to an Operator )

  • On the Slips Tab select a Pick Slip that must be pickec and select Next.

  • The Print Tab will now be visible, as the Warehouse Setting (DISPLAY_TRACKID_CREATION_TAB) has been activated.

  • The Operator can now select the type of box/carton label that must be printed, including how many labels.

Once the user has started picking the stock they can go back to the Print Tab at any time to print more Picking TrackID (labels)

Print the Picking TrackID during picking

This method allows the Operator to print the Picking TrackIDs as they walk through the warehouse picking the stock. Typically, they will have a hip-printer with them while picking and print out the Picking TrackID as they pick.

When following this approach the DISPLAY_TRACKID_CREATION_TAB setting will be set to N(o) and the Print Tab will not be visible on the Sales Pick To TrackID HTML5 screen.

There are three different methods that can be followed:

  • Print the label before starting to pick (Prompt for labels on assign)

  • Print the label after a pick slip has been picked and you want to seal the box (Print labels on Next Box)

  • Print the label after picking and when the pick is being confirmed (Prompt for label on Confirm)

For this method of labeling there are two warehouse settings that can be configured. BOX_PICKING_REQUIRED and often PICKING_AUTO_POPULATE_PICKING_PALLET.

From the Ribbon Bar, browse to Settings / Warehouse Settings. Select the applicable warehouse and locate the DISPATCH System Name. Update the setting BOX_PICKING_REQUIRED to Y(es)

From the Ribbon Bar, browse to Settings / Warehouse Settings. Select the applicable warehouse and locate the DISPATCH System Name. Update the setting PICKING_AUTO_POPULATE_PICKINGPALLET to Y(es)

Let’s review the configurations required for each method.

Print the label before starting to pick (Prompt for labels on assign)

To follow this approach the PROMPT_FOR_LABELS_ON_ASSIGN setting must be set to Y(es).

From the Ribbon Bar, browse to Settings / Warehouse Settings. Select the applicable warehouse and locate the SALESORDER_PICKING System Name. Update the setting PROMPT_FOR_LABELS_ON_ASSIGN to Y(es)

Printing these Picking TrackIDs prior to picking must be done from the Sales Pick to TrackID HTML5 screen.

  • Open the Sales Pick to TrackID HTML5 screen.

  • Assign the pick slip to the operator (for more information refer to Assigning TrackID/Box Pick to an Operator )

  • A pop-up message will appear asking whether the Picking TrackID must be printed.

  • Select Yes

  • The disadvantage of this method is that the label will not display the Sales order data.

Print the label after a pick slip has been picked and you want to seal the box (Print labels on Next Box)

To follow this approach there are two settings applicable. PRINT_LABELS_ON_NEXTBOX and PREPRINT_PICKING_TRACKIDS

From the Ribbon Bar, browse to Settings / Warehouse Settings. Select the applicable warehouse and locate the SALESORDER_PICKING System Name. Update the setting PRINT_LABELS_ON_NEXTBOX to Y(es).

From the Ribbon Bar, browse to Settings / Warehouse Settings. Select the applicable warehouse and locate the SALESORDER_PICKING System Name. Update the setting PREPRINT_PICKING_TRACKIDS to Y(es). Y(es) means the next box number will print, if N(o), then the previous box number will print.

Printing these Picking TrackIDs after the stock codes has been picked via the Sales Pick to TrackID HTML5 screen.
