Create a Job in SYSPRO
Create a Job
There are typically two ways to create a Job in SYSPRO:
Create a Job from a Bill of Material
Create a Job without a Bill of Material.
Let’s look at creating a Job from a Bill of Material.
The first step would be to create the Bill of Material.
Create a Bill of Material
A Job usually contains a Parent stock code and various ‘child stock codes.’ The ‘child stock codes’ is what is required to build up the Parent stock code and ultimately create the Job.
Open SYSPRO
On the Program List browse to Bill and Materials / Setup / Structure and Routings.
The Structures & Routings screen will open.
Enter or search for the Parent stock code. (For example, B100)
To add ‘child stock codes’:
o Select Add under the Components section.
o The Component Maintenance screen will open.
o Select or add the ‘child stock code’ in the Stock code field.
o Ensure the Unit of measure is correct. This will depend on the product.
o The Quantity per must have at least one unit.
o Take note whether it is a Kit issue or not.

Note: When an item is marked as Kit Issue in SYSPRO, it is not required to be picked through DATASCOPE WMS. For more information, refer to WIP Kit Issued items. |
o Select Save to add the ‘child stock code’ to the parent stock code.
Once your Parent stock code has been created you can continue to create the Job in SYSPRO.
Create a Job from a Bill of Material parent stock code.
In SYSPRO, on the Program List, browse to Work In Progress / Job Postings / Job Entry.
The Job Entry screen will open.
Start by entering the parent stock code into the Stock Code field. This will be the stock code (parent stock code) that will be manufactured through the Job that you create.
Other important fields to capture are:
o The Warehouse into which the final product must be receipted into.
o Add the Customer (this is not necessarily required for DATASCOPE WMS)
o Add the Quantity to make. This is the quantity of the Parent stock code.
Select Create Job
The following Forward Infinite pop-up will appear. This is not applicable, so just select Save.
SYSPRO then pulls through all the ‘child stock codes’ added under the Bill of Materials section and generate it as Materials for the Job.
Take note of the Job assigned number. This is the Job number you will need in DATASCOPE WMS.
The Quantity required for the Job will multiply with the material quantity (the Quantity required for each child stock code)
Info |
---|
Note: Material quantities can be adjusted for this specific Job and will not affect the Bill of Material. To adjust quantities, select the Change icon. |
Create a Job without a Bill of Material parent stock code.
Again, browse to Work In Progress / Job Postings / Job Entry in SYSPRO.
Enter a stock code in the Stock code field.
If the bought-out pop-up appear, select OK and continue creating the Job.
Update the Quantity to make field to indicate how many of the product must be manufactured.
Select the Create Job button.
This time there will be no ‘child stock codes’ associated with the parent stock code, as no Bill of Material was created for this stock code.
From here you can add the required ‘child stock codes’ to the Job.
Select the Add button.
Add the first ‘child stock code’ to the parent stock code of this Job.
Continue to add the required ‘child stock codes’ to the parent stock code.
Select Save.
