Reference: Order Release / Pick Slip Release / Sales Order Release PIK001

This process allows the user to create WMS picking slips for SYSPRO Sales Orders in Backorder or In Reserve status. This status will depend on what type of business process you've taken.

The Order Release module reviews (ability to preview customer sales orders) and (including allocate stock to the order before releasing) releases SYSPRO Sales Orders to the warehouse for picking. This process will follow only once your Sales Order is in status 1, 2, or 3 in SYSPRO. For more information on SYSPRO Sales Order statuses, go to View a Purchase Order in SYSPRO

Note:  A prerequisite is that SYSPRO Settings are configured correctly. For more information, refer to the Required SYSPRO Settings

An option to select a route is also included if you are running the Load Planning module. All orders shown in the load planning module must be linked to a valid SYSPRO route code

This screen expects a single order review and release at a time. This differs from the Sales Order Release (Wave) screen where many orders are reviewed at a time.

Try it!

A simple (single) sales order release function allows your warehouse controller to review specific sales orders for release. Here the sales order lines can be released individually. The software applies the specific stock reservation rules designed for your company in this release process.

  • On the Main Menu browse to Order Release / Pick Slip Release / Sales Order Release

  • The Sales Order Release screen will open

  • Type the Sales Order number in the Sales Order field or select the browse icon to search for the Sales Order

  • The Sales Order header information will populate, and the data grid will load with the stock code information received from SYSPRO

Note:  Items highlighted in red are unreserved or not completely reserved.

  • By using the Column Chooser, you can show/hide any columns not required, or make your screen less cluttered, as this data grid has a large number of information available

  • You will be able to see the stock available in any Pick face bin and bulk bin, refer to the Available Qty column, as well as any quantities that are reserved from either pick face or bulk bin, refer to the Reserved Qty Pickface and Reserved Qty Bulk columns

Note:  WMS is installed with a preconfigured auto-reservation rule, which will automatically reserve stock from any pick face bin first – pick face bins must however be configured correctly. For more information on configuring pick face bins refer to Pickface Bin setup

  • If pick face bins are not configured, the system will reserve stock from bulk bins in a First In First Out (FIFO) order.

  • You have two options to reserve the stock, either by selecting the Auto Reserve button or by Manually reserving the stock

  • When selecting the Auto Reserve button in the top-right-hand corner, the system will do what it can with the available stock

  • Fully satisfied reserved stock will show green in the data grid while leaving the partially or totally unsatisfied lines in red

  • When you use the Auto Reserve button, you can review what the software did by scrolling to the far right on the data grid and clicking on the Reserve link

Note:  The Reserve pop-up window also has many columns. You can use the Column Chooser to show/hide columns to make the screen less cluttered

  • Lines that are grey on the Reserve pop-up screen are stock that is unavailable for reservation as the TrackID is still in a Receiving Bin location in the warehouse and must first be put away

  • The auto-reserved TrackIDs will show as selected with tick boxes that are checked

  • You can edit the Reserved Qty column

  • You are also able to select and reserve from another TrackID, by checking the checkbox and updating the Reserved Qty column

  • Click on the Reserve button to save your changes

Note:  You will have to go through all the red lines in the data grid after auto-reserving to see what you can do with the stock shortages. For example, to action, the put-away process first so that the lines become available to reserve stock from again. You can also reserve from more than one TrackID. For more information on the put-away process refer to Put Away (HTML5)

  • Ensure all stock has been reserved and is highlighted in green

  • Select the Confirm button to print the pick slip

  • The Printer pop-up will appear to select a printer

Note: When printing to a physical printer you must ensure that the System Settings is configured correctly and that the physical label printer setting is printing to a 4X2.5-inch label.

The SALESORDER_PICKING setting under Settings / Printers on the Ribbon Bar must point to the physical printer. For more information refer to Configure Printers

  • A pick slip number will also appear on the screen

  • On the Pick Slip Review screen, the pick slip will have a status of PRINTED and the pickers can start picking the stock on the floor. For more information on the Pick Slip Review screen refer to Pick Slip Review Overview

Note:  You can save your reservation by selecting the End Reservation button. This will leave the quantities on the selected TrackIDs as reserved and render them unavailable for other Sales Orders, for the Sales Order you are busy with.

Note:  You can also cancel the current reservations by selecting the Clear Reservations button

Sales Order Wave Release
