Warehouse Setup / Area Zone Maintenance / Area Configuration - WHS002
Area Configuration is mainly used by companies running the Material Handling Equipment (MHE) model. This is an advanced warehouse where the main constraining element in the picking process is expensive material handling equipment.
This model expects the warehouse to be split into areas and then MHE (Material Handling Equipment) are linked to each area.
The Sales Order Releasing module is then set to Auto Reservation Rule 9 (MHE). This reservation rule automatically looks for full pallets in the warehouse and reserves them for picking against an MHE for fork lifts. One the required quantity drops below a full pallet the rule then reserves cartons from the floor level (another area) and assigns these to an MHE called picker and lastly look through the balance of the warehouse for open pallets to send a man up to a higher level to pick the cartons.
On releasing the pick to the warehouse floor the software releases a separate pick slip for each Material Handling Equipment (MHE) type. On assigning the pick slips the picker can print a set of carton labels to be placed on every carton as each item is picked or the software can print the carton labels on a mobile printer carried or installed with each picker.
