Setup warehouse areas, zones and bin locations

One of the first things to do when setting up your system is to map out your warehouses into Areas or Zones, set up all your bin locations, and print bin location labels. This configuration drives through to SYSPRO automatically as you transact.

AREAS, in a broad sense, are used to designate the local areas inside your warehouse where teams of pickers would pick products. This is particularly useful in very large warehouses. Conversely, a smaller warehouse typically would be set up as a single area. ZONES, on the other hand, are typically used in the put away process. The system offers a high degree of flexibility, allowing you to set up zones with bin locations within the zones. This customization feature empowers you to link your stock codes in SYSPRO to a zone, and the put away screen will suggest the correct zone when moving that product into the warehouse. Some examples of zones would be: Allergen products; Flammable products; Heavy products ; Bulk storage locations etc. The system does not impose a limit on the number of zones you can set up, but we recommend starting with a minimal number and gradually adding more as needed. This way, you can always update your bin locations to the new zone mapping.

BINS allows you to add each bin location to your system. You can enter these bins one by one or import them into the software. Each new bin location is printed, and the labels must be placed inside your warehouse.
