Replenishment Mass Check (Warehouse Movements) [REP020]

This module can be linked to a weight scale and has been designed to adjust any mass variances of products moving from one area to another area on the factory floor.

When working with any mass-based product, such as food ingredients, there are times when the actual mass of a bag needs to be checked and adjusted in the WMS software.

A replenishment may call for 40 pounds of a product to be placed into a pick face. A single product bag is picked and delivered to the pick face warehouse entrance. Before scanning this into the pick face, the bag can be placed on a conveyor that integrates with this software to process a weight check. The screen then processes any small positive or negative stock adjustment to correct the mass. Ensuring the mass is correct before moving the stock into a pick face bin helps to ensure that we do not get picking errors later where the picking transacts 2.34 pounds to a job, but DATASCOPE WMS only has 2.1 pounds in the bin.

This module is particularly helpful when transacting in lot traceable environments.

  • If the screen is opened for the first time, and no physical scale has been configured, you will see a pop-up message stating that the Communication with the attached scale is disconnected.

  • Select OK

  • The Replenishment Mass Check screen will open.

  • Enter or select the Stock Code from the lookup.

  • Select or enter the Lot number, if applicable. If a single Lot number is configured against that Stock Code, it will populate automatically.

  • The Pickface Bin will automatically populate.

  • Enter the ScaleMass (if a physical scale was configured, then this will populate automatically), otherwise it must be weighed manually and the mass be entered into this field.

  • The Net Balance (After Post) will populate automatically, indicating the remaining Mass of that product.

  • Select Post

  • This will post an Inventory adjustment to SYSPRO and update the DATASCOPE WMS stock.

FUNCTIONALITY OVERVIEW

This PC based Mass check can be implemented on the factory floor to adjust the weights of product moving from one area to another. Some examples are as follows:

When working with any mass based product such as a food ingredient there are times where the actual mass of a bag needs to be checked and adjusted in the WMS software. For instance the supplier may deliver in 50lb bags. These are received through one of the receipt modules and held in stock as 50 lbs.

Then, a replenishment is created to direct a replenisher to move 50lbs into the pick face. When a single bag is picked it may very well not be 50lbs - it may be 51.5lbs. The problem with this is that we will transact 50lbs into the pick face and then at some time we will pick some product that fails to post because the software will believe that there is insufficient stock in the bin.

This application can be linked to a weigh scale and all bags of product can be quickly weighed and the quantity adjusted to the accurate weight before it is moved on to the pick face.

The module is particularly helpful when transacting in a lot traceable environment.
