FUNCTIONALITY OVERVIEW

There are times in a manufacturing business where a large number of jobs cannot be released to the factory because a key raw material component. is no longer available, however this component could be replaced with an alternative component. The program will run through the SYSPRO jobs that have not already been released into picking slips and will replace the problem component with the selected alternative.

This function can also be done within the Job Releasing screen but on a line by line level.

This program allows us to replace the component on

This module quickly replaces an existing component on a single or multiple SYSPRO Jobs with a suitable alternative component.

This is typically used when a factory component can easily be replaced without compromising the end result of the Job. Replacing a component might be required due to QTY or quality problems that prevent using the original component. It will run through all SYSPRO Jobs not released to a pick slip and replace the unavailable component with a selected alternative component.

This ability to replace unavailable components with an alternative component can also be done on the Job Release module but only on a line-by-line level, whereby this module can do it for all Jobs waiting to be released to the factory.

    SPECIAL FEATURES

    • The number of jobs affected can be selected

    • Only

    confirmed jobs are updated

    • Some rules, however, do apply to follow this process:

      • This module does not allow editing QTYs; only the stock code can be changed. It also does not affect the parent component's Bill of Material (BOM) but only the individual stock code allocations on the Job.

      • The module only displays and allows edits to Unconfirmed SYSPRO Jobs.

      • The standard SYSPRO validations apply; therefore, stock codes cannot be replaced on Jobs if the stock code line is complete or if the warehouse record of the original line does not exist against the new stock code replacement.

    • If you know the date by when the unavailable product will be available again, you can sort the data grid by JobStartDate and only select the applicable jobs prior to that date.

    TECHNICAL

    • To indicate whether the unavailable raw material (stock code) can be replaced with ONLY alternative raw material (stock code) or with any other material (stock code) a System Setting must be configured. From the Ribbon bar, browse to Settings / System Settings and locate the PICKING_JOB_ALLOCATION System Setting. Locate the REPLACE_STOCK_OPTIONS SettingName and ensure the SettingValue is = Alternative. If this is set to All then any other material (stock code) can be used as the replacement material.
