Inventory Management
A stock take, or inventory management, is the process of checking your inventory – how much you have in stock and the condition of goods – and recording the results in a report. Stocktaking helps with your stock control.
DATASCOPE PREMIUM WMS offers three vitally important inventory count modules.
The Stock Take module in DATASCOPE PREMIUM WMS is a crucial tool. It is widely used and offers significant advantages over traditional stock counts when captured directly into SYSPRO.
The purpose of a Stock Take is not just a routine task but a crucial one. It involves placing an entire warehouse in stock-taking mode and performing a wall-to-wall inventory count. Typically, this will be done after all outstanding pick slips are completed and all products are packed out of the shelves and shipped. No products should move location during a full warehouse count as the entire warehouse is officially in ‘stock count mode.’ This process is vital for maintaining accurate inventory records.
Refer to the Stock Taking User Guide for more detailed information on the Stock Take module.
The Cycle Count module selects specific bin locations to perform ad hoc inventory counts. While doing a Cycle Count, inventory can continue moving in and out of bins, as the QTY variance is applied to whatever QTY is on hand during the Cycle Count process. There might be some movement after the commencement of the Cycle Count process. Refer to the Cycle Counting User Guide for more detailed information on the Cycle Counting module.
However, the Stock Take by Bin module is between a full Stock Take and a Cycle Count, where a range of bin locations is selected and placed into a ‘stock count mode.’ A good example would be if you want to count one complete warehouse rack so that you can place just that rack’s bin locations in a ‘stock count mode.’ When the snapshot file is created, all inventory movement must stop into and out of those bins. Inventory movement should only recommence once the Stock Take by Bin process has been confirmed. Refer to the Stock Take by Bin User Guide for more detailed information on the Stock Take by Bin module.
