Most of the System and/or Warehouse settings applicable to the various picking strategies will be located under the DISPATCH and SALES_ORDER_PICKING System Names.
Autoload Stock Code, Lot and Auto-populate QTY
These settings apply to the Pick Tab on any picking screen where the user can allow the stock code, lot, and quantity to auto-load when scanning the TrackID.
For autoloading the stock code and lot:
On the Ribbon Bar, browse to Settings / Warehouse Settings. Select the applicable Warehouse (typically, it would be the warehouse you are signed into) and locate the SALESORDER_PICKING setting name. Here you can update the AUTO_LOAD_LOT and AUTO_LOAD_STOCK settings to Y(es) to autoload.
For autoloading the Qty:
On the Ribbon Bar, browse to Settings / Warehouse Settings. Select the applicable Warehouse (typically, it would be the warehouse you are signed into) and locate the DISPATCH setting name. Here you can update the AUTO_POPULATE_QTY settings to Y(es) to autoload.
Display suggested TrackID
The Sugg TrackID that display in data grid in the Pick Tab can be hidden or displayed. This is purely there to ensure the Operators don’t just enter any TrackID, but the correct Sugg TrackID according to the bin it is located in.
On the Ribbon Bar, browse to Settings / Warehouse Settings. Select the applicable Warehouse (typically, it would be the warehouse you are signed into) and locate the DISPATCH setting name. Here you can update the MAY_PICK_FROM_ALTERNATE settings to Y(es). This will autoload the stock code, depending on how the Barcode Maintenance was set up.
May pick from Alternate
As part of barcode maintenance alternate values can also be configured per stock code (for example UPC barcode). When this setting is configured, the user has the option to enter the stock code or the alternative value configured in the Barcode Maintenance module. If the alternate value is entered, then the screen will automatically revert to the linked stock code.
On the Ribbon Bar, browse to Settings / Warehouse Settings. Select the applicable Warehouse (typically, it would be the warehouse you are signed into) and locate the DISPATCH setting name. Here you can update the DISPLAY_SUGGESTED_TRACKID settings to Y(es) to autoload.

Forcing same lot alternate TrackID
This setting allows the user to pick an alternative TrackID (or Lot) then the one in the Sugg TrackID column. The recommended setting is Y(es), as this is very difficult to manage if the stock control in the warehouse isn’t correct. The Operator will now be able to use the Lookup Stk button on the screen.
On the Ribbon Bar, browse to Settings / Warehouse Settings. Select the applicable Warehouse (typically, it would be the warehouse you are signed into) and locate the DISPATCH setting name. Here you can update the MAY_PICK_FROM_ALTERNATE and FORCE_SAME_LOT_ALTERNATE_TRACKID settings to Y(es).
If this setting is N(o), there’s a permission setting that must also be updated. This forces the Operator to go to his Supervisor to request an override. This permission setting is located under the Ribbon Bar under Permissions. Select the Group Permissions Tab and select the Supervisor Group (or OVERRIDE group, depending how the groups are created) and ensure the following two permissions are ticked:
MAY_OVERRIDE_PICKSLIP_RESERVED_LOT
MAY_OVERRIDE_PICKSLIP_RESERVED_TRACKID
If an override is required a pop-up message will appear on his screen requesting the override.
Picking over percent allowed / picking under percent allowed
This setting determine the percentage allowed to under and over pick on the Confirm Tab. The user can enter a quantity in the QTY field under or over the required QTY to be picked for the pick slip. This can be used when the Auto-populate QTY setting is not used.
On the Ribbon Bar, browse to Settings / Warehouse Settings. Select the applicable Warehouse (typically, it would be the warehouse you are signed into) and locate the DISPATCH setting name. Here you can update the PICKING_OVER_PERCENT_ALLOWED and PICKING_UNDER_PERCENT_ALLOWED setting value according to the percentages allowed for the warehouse picking strategy.
Sales Order Pick by Bin
This setting refer to the order in which you would like to pick the items on the pick slips. The user have the option to Order by Bin, Order by Bin Sequence Number or Order by Stock Code
On the Ribbon Bar, browse to Settings / Warehouse Settings. Select the applicable Warehouse (typically, it would be the warehouse you are signed into) and locate the DISPATCH setting name. Here you can update the SALESORDERPACK_BY_BIN setting value to either BIN (Order by Bin), STOCKCODE (Order by Stock Code) or BIN_SEQUENCE (Order by Bin Sequence Number).
Auto confirm fully picked pick slips
This setting is typically used with MSN picking where you have multiple pick slip on one MSN to pick. It is recommended to use the Auto-confirmed fully picked pick slip Warehouse setting, otherwise we must confirm each picking individually. As you are picking a MSN, there will be multiple pick slips.
On the Ribbon Bar, browse to Settings / Warehouse Settings. Select the applicable Warehouse from the drop-down and search for SALESORDER_PICKING System Name. Update the Setting value for AUTO_CONFIRM_FULLY_PICKED_PICKING_SLIPS to Y(es)
It is however important to note that if a MSN pick was short picked, then it will not be auto-confirmed with this Auto-confirm setting. The user must still resolve it manually.
Bulk Picking
Summarizes the total QTY
<outstanding>
Ship location
This setting determines when you will be moving the stock to ship in SYSPRO. There are four options:
Pick Confirmation
Check Out
Invoice
Warehouse.
Auto update Sales Order QTY
This setting allows us to increase sales order QTYs automatically. When the pick slip states the QTY is five, but the Operator picks six, this setting will automatically update the Sales Order Qty from five to six.
Pick Slip Strategy Setup
Once all the system and warehouse settings has been customized according to your specific warehouse picking strategy it can be copied over to the Pick Slip Strategy Setup module, located on the Main Menu under System Setup / Pick Slip Strategy / Pick Slip Strategy Setup.
This means that multiple different strategies and customizations can be run in the same warehouse. For example: Multiple Operators can pick in the same warehouse, but depending on the strategy selected when releasing a pick slip (for mor information, refer to Release (create) a Pick Slip ) it would behave differently depending on the business requirement. The pick strategy is set at the pick slip creation process as part of the auto-reserve and release step, which will link the pick slip strategy to the pick slip. If there are no pick slip strategy configured, then the system will revert back to the warehouse setting.
It is important to note that there are four picking strategies, but we can cater for multiple picking methods by setting additional picking configurations for each picking strategy. For more information on the configurations, refer to Additional Picking Configurations
