Picking Slips Overview

A warehouse uses a pick slip to pick items from dedicated bin locations. This can either be in the form of a Job Pick Slip or a Purchase Order Pick Slip. The document contains important information about the inventory that must be picked. The Pick Slip Review screen within DATASCOPE WMS is used to view, manage and track the progress of Pick Slips.

Picking slips are tracked in detail through the following statuses:

  1. Created (pick slip number has been assigned)

  2. Printed/Released (pick slip has been released to the floor)

  3. Assigned (the picking slip has been assigned to a picker)

  4. Started (the picking process has begun)

  5. Picked (picking has been completed)

  6. Checked (the picking slip has been through a pack station and or a checkout station)

  7. Shipping (the pick has been linked to a shipping bill of lading or waybill)

  8. Invoiced/DNote (an invoice or dispatch note has been released in SYSPRO for the pick)

  9. Dispatched (The picking slip has been shipped)

  10. Loaded / UnLoaded* (Scanned on or off a Truck)

  11. Complete* (The Trip Sheet are printed for a Truck Load)

  12. Canceled (The Pick Slip is cancelled)

All aspects of the picking process are recorded including the operator’s name for each status as well as detailed records of the stock picked and checked out per order.

The Pick Slip Review screen can be used in various scenarios:

Viewing only printed pick slips

A warehouse supervisor can look at all printed but not started picking slips - this will show the supervisor which picking slips have been printed, but no picker has started picking them. He can see started picking slips, which will show picking slips that are in the process of picking and he can review times against these picking slips. This allows him to ensure that a picking slip has not been allocated to a picker who is not actually processing the pick.

Viewing customer orders

Sale staff can review customers' orders. By filtering on a customer the screen will display all active picking slips that are currently in process for this specific customer, which assists the sales person in giving an update to the customer on the progress of various picking slips. This is particularly useful in a situation where customers collect their goods from a company and would like to review that the bulk of their goods have already been picked and are awaiting collection.

Conduct efficiency investigations

Various efficiency investigations can be identified from the screen, where each picking slip can be reviewed to check the detailed dates and times of each status through the process. For instance, a completed picking slip can be reviewed to investigate what time the picking slip was released, what time picking started, what time picking ended, what time the picking slip was checked, invoiced and finally delivered.
