Task Management

This new module has been designed to collate all work tasks from each of the current DATASCOPE WMS modules, where tasks are generated into a single queue table to be distributed to warehouse operators. A new HTML5 Task List screen has also been developed to pull tasks to the warehouse operators based on their profile settings. For instance, if a staff member has been set up with a profile of 80% picking, 15% Replenishment, and 5% cycle counting, the software will pull work to this user in that mix depending on the tasks in the queue.

The module also allows administrators to add and configure custom tasks, including setting up standard times per task to report on work utilization over time. For example, you could add a task called “Clean your work area.” When the work queue dries, the user could be tasked with cleaning operations.

What is Task Management in a Warehouse

On a very high level, Task Management is a task-driven application that generates tasks automatically as specific actions occur in a warehouse. For example, when a Purchase Receipt is done, the system automatically generates a Put Away task to put away the received pallets.

This is a crucial component within a warehouse that orchestrates and optimizes the diverse range of activities taking place within a warehouse environment. In a warehouse, numerous tasks are generated for different processes, such as put away, picking, and cycle counting. Traditionally, these tasks are displayed individually on screens, often resulting in operators needing a comprehensive overview of their daily tasks. Typically, the responsibility of managing these tasks falls upon the Warehouse Manager.

However, a transformative shift occurs with the introduction of our latest Task Management module. This module empowers users by offering a consolidated task screen that presents a holistic list of tasks tailored to the user's profile and task priorities. The Task Management module amalgamates individual task-driven processes into a more operator-centric workflow by streamlining this approach. This enables operators to efficiently manage and execute multiple tasks across various processes, such as put away, picking, and cycle counting. The Task Management module enhances task visibility, optimizes operator efficiency, and empowers warehouse personnel to proactively manage their responsibilities, contributing to a more streamlined and organized warehouse operation.
