Quality Control
Quality Control
The Quality Control (QC) module is a DATASCOPE WMS module that Food, Chemical, and Pharmaceutical Distribution Centers typically use.
In these highly regulated sectors, stringent quality standards and regulatory requirements govern the handling, storage, and distribution of goods. Implementing a robust Quality Control module allows the warehouse to systematically track and manage product quality throughout the supply chain, from receipt to dispatch. This includes real-time monitoring of environmental conditions, expiration dates, and batch numbers. By integrating quality checks into DATASCOPE PREMIUM, the warehouse can proactively identify and address issues, such as contamination or damage, mitigating the risk of distributing substandard or non-compliant products. This not only safeguards consumers' health but also upholds the company’s reputation and ensures adherence to industry-specific regulations, ultimately contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the supply chain.
All stock codes set as “Inspection Required” in SYSPRO can be controlled in this module, both during the Purchase Order Receipt and Job Receipt stages. Each stock code can be flagged with multiple quality tests. Expected results are entered, and tests pass or fail against these criteria.
Examples of possible tests and test categories:
Microbiological Testing - Checking for the presence of microorganisms such as bacteria, yeast, and Mold.
Allergen Testing - Verifying the absence of allergens in the products to prevent allergic reactions.
Labeling Compliance - Confirming that product labels comply with regulatory requirements and accurately reflect contents.

Getting Started
What is the DATASCOPE PREMIUM Quality Control all about?
DATASCOPE PREMIUM has a couple of ways in how Quality Checks and Control.
DATASCOPE can manage stock codes with inspection requirements in three ways, provided the SKU is flagged as inspection required in SYSPRO:
Single-stage inspection – Here, the full quantity is received into SYSPRO inspection, and the full quantity passes inspection. The DATASCOPE TrackID remains ON HOLD until the quality module(s) release the stock, but the TrackID can still be moved into a storage location/bin in the warehouse.
Two-stage inspection – The full quantity is received into SYSPRO inspection and remains until the quality modules release the stock. Since the stock is not yet in stock in SYSPRO, it cannot be Bin transferred.
Quality tests on stock code level - The larger quality module (this user guide) handles tests and criteria at a stock code level.
Two additional Inbound Quality check functions are available for items flagged as inspection required. One is a simple pallet mass check where each new pallet of the affected stock code in receiving is in an ON HOLD status and then must be placed on a weigh station linked to DATASCOPE WMS to validate the mass. If the mass passes a simple percentage tolerance, the pallet becomes ACTIVE and can be moved into the warehouse.
The second check is a very simple quality release function. No QC testing is managed here. The client is expected to have their own QC system and simply wants to move pallets from ON HOLD to ACTIVE when they are happy to release them. This can be fired from an e.net business object.
Module Licensing
The Quality Control (QC) module is a separate Module within the product. It must be licensed separately when purchasing the product.
User interface
Once licensed and activated, the Quality Control module is visible on the Main Menu under Quality Control. It consists of the following screens:
Quality Data Setup
Quality Test
Quality Test Concession
Reprinting
Quality Data Setup
The Quality Test Setup section is where Quality tests are created and configured. This section is broken down in the following screens:
Quality Test Setup
This screen is used to create and maintain Quality Tests. Typically, a document will be added to each step, explaining instructions on how to perform the test.
Test Category Maintenance
This screen is used to create various Quality Categories. Each Quality Test will typically be linked to a Category.
Stock Code Test Maintenance
This screen is used to set up and configure tests per stock code.
Stock Code Quality Specification
This screen lists all the tests linked to a specific stock code (the tests must already be set up per stock code, using the Stock Code Test Maintenance screen) and allows a user to setup the specifications for each test. The following test specifications can be configured:
Conformance Tests
o These tests have a Boolean value of either True or False. To pass this type of test, the test results should match the Boolean value selected. If the product doesn’t match the value (i.e., True or False), then the test fails.
Tolerance Test
o This test has a lower or upper range that the sample test result needs to fall into to pass. The Percentage Pass Threshold is the percentage of samples that need to pass for the whole test to pass.
Sample Type and Size
o % OF: A percentage (Sample Value) of the amount being received will have a test created for it
o TOTAL OF: Takes a specified amount (Sample Value) when receiving and creates a number of tests based on that. If the qty received is less than the Sample value, it will all be tested.
o RUNNING TOTAL: Checks the running total (stored in the database) of the quantity received; once the running total + new qty is greater than the sample value, several tests will be created based on the sample size.
o RECEIPT: Checks the number of receipts (that are stored in the database) whose Sample Value has been reached. Tests are generated based on the set Sample Size value whenever the specified Sample Value is achieved.
Attachments
Any attachments required for a specific stock code with additional testing steps can be added.
Copy Stock Code Quality Specification
This module allows a user to copy existing tests’ configuration for a stock code and link them to a different stock code.
Quality Test
Once a test is established and configured for a stock code marked for Inspection, and the inventory is entered into DATASCOPE WMS via the Receipt Purchase Order or Job Receipt modules, this module verifies whether specific tests are configured for the given stock code. If tests are configured, it generates a Test Result record with a unique Test Result Number.
A Test Result Sheet will also be printed that the testers will follow to conduct the tests.
Testers will use this Quality Test screen to enter and post the results for each sample test.
Quality Test Concession
This module is used to release TrackIDs linked to a test/sample that has failed.
Reprinting
Users can enter the Test Result Number and reprint the Test Result Sheet through this module.
