Switch off Serialization module in SYSPRO
SYSPRO
Serial numbering is crucial in tracking and tracing individual products linked to specific customers, mainly for product warranty purposes. However, within SYSPRO, managing serial numbers at the item level can be time-consuming and resource-intensive, leading to performance issues during tasks like stock movement and cycle counting. DATASCOPE WMS offers a more efficient approach to tracking serial numbers, providing customers with the necessary information while optimizing system performance.
For example, a Stock Code (pallet) can have 750 items on it; therefore, if we need to move stock around within a warehouse (for example, from Bulk Bins to Pick face Bins we will have to scan all 750 serial numbers. Another example is also during Cycle Counting. The user will have to scan all 750 serial numbers. This process had a tremendous impact on the E.Net transactions and timed out on regular bases due to the volumes of data.
DATASCOPE WMS offers a more efficient approach to tracking serial numbers, providing customers with the necessary information while optimizing system performance. Suppliers must only associate a serial number with a TrackID (pallet) during picking. Suppliers want to know which serial number was on which pick slip and to whom it was sold to. Therefore, we do not require SYSPRO’s Serialization module, and it can be switched off. If a product requires serial tracking, it can be switched on only during the picking process, and recorded in a DATASCOPE WMS Report.
